HC Deb 17 November 1936 vol 317 cc1504-5
46. Mr. MANDER

asked the Prime Minister whether he will consider the advisability of arranging that the Armistice commemoration shall, in future, under present international conditions, take the form of an expression of shame and humiliation at the failure of those now alive to fulfil the purposes for which one million Britons gave their lives in the Great War?

Sir J. SIMON

No, Sir.

Mr. MANDER

Does not the statement in the question inevitably and necessarily, in present circumstances, represent the feelings of us all?

Sir J. SIMON

I think my hon. Friend is making a very rash assumption in thinking that his feelings are the feelings of us all.
