HC Deb 16 November 1936 vol 317 cc1333-4

The following Question stood upon the Order Paper in the name of Colonel WEDGWOOD:

53. To ask the Under-Secretary of State for Air for what purpose our Royal Air Force is kept in Iraq; what does it cost a year; and does this country pay for the whole cost?

At the end of Questions:

Mr. MONTAGUE

May I ask, seeing that Question No. 53 has not been answered, whether it has been placed in the hands of any Minister?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Sir John Simon)

May I say, in answer to the hon. Member, that there was a failure to answer the question at the moment, and inquiries are being made? I am sure that there will be an explanation, and that the hon. Member in the meantime will excuse the question not having been answered.
