HC Deb 12 November 1936 vol 317 c1048
67. Mr. LOGAN

asked the Minister of Health whether he is prepared, in the interest of national prosperity and security, to formulate and carry out a national policy to meet the peril of declining population?

Sir K. WOOD

This matter is under consideration, but I am unable at present to make any statement on the subject.

Mr. LOGAN

Has the right hon. Gentleman any idea when he will be able to make a statement?

Sir K. WOOD

I will inform the hon. Member.

Mr. G. GRIFFITHS

Can the right hon. Gentleman help the Oxford authorities who are going to give a bonus to people who get married there?

Mr. THURTLE

Can the right hon. Gentleman give the House an assurance that any action that he takes will not interfere with the right of mothers to have access to information which will enable them to regulate the size of their families?

Sir K. WOOD

The hon. Member is inviting me on to a very dangerous path.

Mr. LOGAN

May I ask the Minister to give no such facilities?
