HC Deb 12 November 1936 vol 317 cc1048-9
75. Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that at a recent meeting of the Hazel Grove and Bramhall Urban District Council a protest was made against the employment by contractors to the council of persons from outside this country on jobs that can be done by unemployed men residing in the neighbourhood; and, if so, will he inquire into this allegation and take steps to allay the fears expressed at that meeting?

Sir K. WOOD

This matter has not previously been brought to my notice. I am making inquiries, and will communicate with the hon. Member.

Mr. DAVIES

If the facts are as stated in my question, will the right hon. Gentleman take the necessary action?

Sir K. WOOD

I think that I must make inquiries first.
