HC Deb 29 May 1936 vol 312 c2382
12. Mr. KIRKPATRICK

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is now in a position to make any further statement regarding Sir F. Leith-Ross's mission to China.

Viscount CRANBORNE

Yes, Sir. Sir Frederick Leith-Ross will shortly be proceeding to Tokyo in order to renew contacts in Japan and to have a further exchange of views on financial and economic questions of common interest to the United Kingdom and to Japan. He will subsequeutly be returning home by way of China.

Mr. BOOTHBY

Can the Noble Lord say whether Sir Frederick Leith-Ross is still the chief economic adviser to the Government—is he still retaining the position, or temporarily abandoning it?

Viscount CRANBORNE

That is quite a different question.
