HC Deb 20 May 1936 vol 312 c1194
57. Mr. BOSSOM

asked the Minister of Transport the total registered capital of the London Passenger Transport Board holdings; and how much of this is held by municipal or public bodies?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

The total capital of the London Passenger Transport Board issued and outstanding at 30th June, 1935, was £111,535,454, of which £9,835,036 was issued at 4½ per cent. L.A. stock (1975/2023) to certain local authorities as consideration for the transfer of their undertakings. This stock is still held by the authorities concerned. I am unable to state what amount of other stocks of the board is now held by municipal or public bodies, but I am informed that £189,050 of A, B and C transport stock, in approximately equal proportions, was issued to two local authorities as consideration for the transfer of their undertakings.

58. Mr. BOSSOM

asked the Minister of Transport up to what amount the Government have expressed their willingness to guarantee the capital that may be needed for extension or improvements; and how much has been guaranteed for these purposes for the London Passenger Transport Board?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

The maximum amount which the Treasury undertook to guarantee under the recent agreements with the London Passenger Transport Board and the main line railway companies was £66,500,000, of which the amount allocated to the London Passenger Transport Board was £28,000,000.
