§ 30. Mr. EDEasked the President of the Board of Trade what action he proposes to take on the findings of the court of inquiry into the loss of the steamship "Sheaf Brook"; and when he proposes to take such action?
§ Dr. BURGINThe principal feature of the "Sheaf Brook" report is the court's criticism of the methods of stowage and trimming of the coal cargo. My right hon. Friend has called for information from his officers at all the principal coal loading ports with a view to considering what improvements in the present arrangements are desirable and practicable.
§ Dr. BURGINThe report of Judge Richardson was dated 1st May, was received on 2nd May, and is now in course of printing. The letters to the ports have already gone, and I hope that very shortly replies will be received. There is as much desire for that on our part as there is on the part of the hon. Member.
§ Mr. SHINWELLWill the hon. Gentleman consider consulting, in addition to the authorities he has already mentioned, the Transport Workers' Union?
