HC Deb 18 May 1936 vol 312 c821
26. Sir REGINALD CLARRY

asked the First Commissioner of Works whether in all Government purchases of coal in which his Department is concerned, the recent appeal has been complied with to pay a voluntary addition of 1s. per ton on existing coal contracts to enable the agreed operative increase in miners' wages to be met forthwith by the consumer of coal; and, if not, in what cases and for what reasons?

The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Mr. Ormsby-Gore)

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative; the second part, therefore, does not arise.
