HC Deb 18 May 1936 vol 312 cc820-1
25. Mr. LEWIS

asked the Postmaster-General whether, under the terms of their contract to carry mails, the British Airways have contracted to maintain a regular service to Scandinavia, in any event or whether they are free to refuse to maintain any service if the agreement with the Air Ministry for a subsidy which is now under consideration should for any reason never be signed?

Major TRYON

I understand that the agreement under negotiation between the Air Ministry and British Airways will be inter-related with the mail agreement already negotiated by the Post Office with the company, but British Airways have undertaken to provide for the carriage of the night mail to Scandinavia in any event from a date to be determined until 31st March, 1939.
