HC Deb 06 May 1936 vol 311 c1685
7. Mr. MORGAN

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether his attention has been called to the fact that the "Palestine Post," which is the only English daily paper in Palestine, has been banned for some considerable time by the Government of Iraq; and whether he will make representations to the. Government of Iraq to withdraw this ban as soon as possible, with a view to improving the good relations between Iraq and Palestine?

Mr. EDEN

I am aware that the entry into Iraq of the "Palestine Post," among certain other Jewish newspapers, was forbidden by the Iraqi Government during the autumn of 1934, and that this was confirmed by a further order in March, 1935. I have no information as to whether this ban is still in force, but I am making inquiries.
