§ Mr. RAMSBOTHAMI am not clear what type of schemes for agricultural development the hon. Member has in mind. So far as small holdings are concerned a number of schemes have been promoted recently by the Durham County Council under the Small Holdings Acts, in co-operation with the Commissioner for the Special Areas who has specific power to provide additional assistance towards the provision of small holdings in those areas.
§ 44. Mr. SHINWELLasked the Minister of Agriculture how many persons are employed in all departments of agriculture in the county of Durham?
§ Mr. RAMSBOTHAMThe number of workers (excluding the occupier, his wife and domestic servants) on agricultural holdings exceeding one acre in extent in the county of Durham, as returned on 4th June, 1935, was 9,042.
