HC Deb 16 March 1936 vol 310 cc36-7
84. Mr. STOREY

asked the President of the Board of Education whether the committee representative of the Tyneside local education authorities, the shipbuilding industry, and Armstrong College, appointed in September last, have reported upon the steps necessary to increase the facilities for technical education in shipbuilding and naval architecture on Tyneside; and whether any action has yet been taken?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of EDUCATION (Mr. Oliver Stanley)

The report of the committee to which the hon. Member refers has not yet been received by the board, but it is understood that it will now be completed very shortly.

Mr. STOREY

Is not the position of the shipyard workers more urgent now than last July, and does the right hon. Gentleman not think that some action should he taken?

Mr. STANLEY

It is not wise to take action before the report is submitted.
