HC Deb 16 March 1936 vol 310 c41
94. Captain STRICKLAND

asked the Minister of Transport whether he can now consider the issue of a regulation placing goods vehicles, at present subject to a lower speed limit, on the same basis as passenger vehicles, in view of their similarity both as to chassis construction and weight and braking capacity?

Captain HUDSON

My right hon. Friend is not at present prepared to ask Parliament to revise speed limits which it settled so recently as 1934.

Captain STRICKLAND

Has the Parliamentary Secretary given full consideration to the congestion which must inevitably take place on the roads if you have one traffic with a restricted speed of 20 miles an hour and another set of vehicles with a restricted speed of 30 miles an hour?
