asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he has any statement to make regarding the progress of the negotiations with the Egyptian Government?

The preliminary conversations with a view to negotiations for an Anglo-Egyptian settlement were formally opened in Cairo on 2nd March They were resumed on 9th March, when the British Delegation put forward proposals which are now being studied by the Egyptian Delegation. The next meeting is due to take place to-day.
