HC Deb 16 March 1936 vol 310 c24
51. Mr. GRIFFITHS

asked the Minister of Labour the percentage costs of administration in respect of unemployment insurance and unemployment assistance?

Lieut.-Colonel MUIRHEAD

Owing to the various differences between the two schemes the percentage costs of administration in respect of unemployment insurance and unemployment assistance cannot be given on a strictly comparable basis. I am, however, circulating a table which gives these costs for the current financial year together with other particulars.

Following is the table:

£ millions (approximately).
1. Estimated Contribution Income of the Insurance Account of the Unemployment Fund 65¾
2. Estimated expenditure in respect of Benefit 42¾
3. Estimated expenditure in respect of Unemployment Allowances (including Supplementary Allowances) 42½
4. Estimated cost of administration of the Unemployment Insurance Scheme
5. Estimated cost of administration of the Unemployment Assistance Scheme
