§ 80. Captain PETER MACDONALDasked the Minister of Agriculture whether, before the Sugar Reorganisation Bill is passed through all its stages, he will investigate the possibility of working out a scheme providing for the equalisation of transport rates for sugar-beet with a view to its inclusion in that Measure, so as to avoid the necessity of lengthy negotiations which must result under the present proposals?
§ Mr. ELLIOTI am satisfied that it would not be practicable to include in the Sugar Industry (Reorganisation) Bill provisions for equalisation of transport rates for sugar beet. As I indicated in the course of the Debate on the Second Reading, however, I propose to ask the Sugar Commission, which is to be set up under the Bill, to examine the question of the equalisation of transport costs in all its bearings.
