HC Deb 12 March 1936 vol 309 c2317
79. Major CARVER

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether his attention has been called to the steady increase during recent years in the number of draught horses imported into this country; and whether, in view of the damaging effect that such imports have upon the maintenance of British horse-breeding, he can state whether recommendations will be made by him for the removal of horses from the free list of the Import Duties Act?

Mr. ELLIOT

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As my hon. And gallant Friend is aware, representations on the subject of duties should be submitted to the Import Duties Advisory Committee in accordance with the provisions of the Import Duties Act, 1932.
