HC Deb 10 March 1936 vol 309 cc1957-8
42. Mr. GEORGE HALL

asked the Minister of Labour whether he can now make a statement as to the exact location of the Government works and trading estate which are to be established in South Wales; and will he see that as far as is possible the areas scheduled as special areas will be given preference?

Mr. E. BROWN

It is not possible at present to add to what was stated in the Debate on 2nd March with regard to the location of the proposed Government factory in South Wales. The private undertaking to which I referred in my answer to the hon. Member on 18th February is in active negotiation with the town council at Port Talbot with a view to establishing a trading estate there. The Commissioner for Special Areas is also now considering the establishment of a second trading estate in the special areas in South Wales.
