HC Deb 10 March 1936 vol 309 c1957
41. Mr. DENVILLE

asked the Minister of Labour whether he can give figures of those in Great Britain and Ireland thrown out of work through the application of sanctions against Italy?

The MINISTER of LABOUR (Mr. Ernest Brown)

No, Sir.

Mr. DENVILLE

Arising out of that somewhat lengthy reply, may I ask whether the right hon. Gentleman is aware that in Newcastle between 200 and 300 men cannot obtain work through sanctions being applied to dried fruit?

Mr. BROWN

I have given the answer asked for.

Mr. H. G. WILLIAMS

Can the right hon. Gentleman, in conjunction with the President of the Board of Trade, make an investigation? It is not very difficult.

Mr. BROWN

I cannot accept that.
