HC Deb 09 March 1936 vol 309 cc1778-9
16. Mr. SAVERY

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs in what manner His Majesty's Government are represented, diplomatically, in Outer Mongolia?

Viscount CRANBORNE

There is no representative of His Majesty's Government in Outer Mongolia.

Mr. H. G. WILLIAMS

Can the Under-Secretary say through what medium steps are taken to protect the interests of British persons in Outer Mongolia?

Viscount CRANBORNE

My right hon. Friend in answering a question on this subject the other day said that the British connections with Outer Mongolia are so slight that the expense of maintaining a British representative there would not be justified in the present circumstances. It follows, therefore, that there is no British representative there.

Mr. WILLIAMS

Can the Under-Secretary say what steps would be taken in the event of British subjects being in Outer Mongolia?
