HC Deb 09 March 1936 vol 309 c1805
79. Mr. WAKEFIELD

asked the Minister of Transport what steps are taken by his Department to encourage the erection of signposts indicating the presence and direction of bridle-paths and footpaths; and, in view of the value of such paths in relieving congestion and preventing accidents on the main highways, whether he will take early steps to increase the provision of such notices?

Captain HUDSON

My right hon. Friend is on the point of issuing a circular to county councils and other authorities which, among other safety measures, urges them, by means of appropriate notices, to encourage the use of field paths by children going to or from school; but he is grateful to my hon. Friend for his suggestion, which he will gladly consider further.
