§ Mr. K. LINDSAYThe starting pay of constables on enlistment in the Royal Marine Police is 5s. 10d. a day. Quarters are provided in addition or, if they are not available, a lodging allowance of 1s. 6d. a day at outports or 2s. a day in London is paid. After two and a half years service constables who have passed the proficiency test receive 6s. 4d. a day —the maximum pay of this rank. Constables are eligible for promotion to sergeant and inspector. The maximum pay of an inspector is 13s. 6d. a day.
