asked the President of the Board of Trade what orders for the construction of British ships were executed abroad during 1935; and, in any such case, the names of the owners?

Dr. BURGIN

There are no official statistics of orders executed abroad for the construction of British ships, but I will, with the hon. Member's permission, circulate a table in the OFFICIAL REPORT giving particulars of the steamers and motor ships of 100 tons gross and over, which are shown in the returns of the Registrar-General of Shipping as having been built abroad in 1935 and subsequently registered in the United Kingdom.
