§ Mr. ATTLEEMay I ask the Prime Minister what business it is proposed to take to-night if his Motion be carried?
§ The PRIME MINISTERAfter the Debate that has been announced, we are anxious to get to-night the Third Reading of the Milk Bill.
§ Mr. ATTLEEDoes the right hon. Gentleman expect the House to sit very late?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI hope not. The issue is simple, and we have had long discussions. We gave nearly the whole of a working day to the Financial Resolution a fortnight ago and there were Debates on the Second Reading and on the Committee stage. I think it is not unreasonable to ask the House for the Third Reading to-night.
§ Mr. T. WILLIAMSIn view of the fact that not only are great principles involved in the Bill, that something over £2,000,000 is at stake and that the speech of the right hon. Gentleman on the last occasion when the Bill was before the House was of such a controversial nature that it is inevitable that some reply must be made, if there is a Division at 11 o'clock, does not the right hon. Gentleman think that rather late to take the Milk Bill?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI regret that my right hon. Friend should for once have been a little controversial.
Captain ARTHUR EVANSDo I gather that it is proposed to take the Committee stage of the Shipping Bill to-night?
§ The PRIME MINISTERNot to-night.
§
Motion made, and Question put,
That the Proceedings on Government Business be exempted, at this day's Sitting, from the provisions of the Standing Order (Sittings of the House)."—[The Prime Minister.]
