HC Deb 29 June 1936 vol 314 c18
36. Mr. H. G. WILLIAMS

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is now in a position to announce the decision of the Government in respect of the recommendations of the Sea Fish Commission?

The MINISTER of AGRICULTURE (Mr. Elliot)

No, Sir. Discussions are proceeding with certain of the interests affected by the Commission's recommendations and will shortly be opened with others. Some little time must, therefore, necessarily elapse before I am in a position to make an announcement as to the Government's intentions regarding the report.

Mr. WILLIAMS

Does my right hon. Friend expect to be able to make an announcement before the Summer Recess?

Mr. ELLIOT

I am afraid I cannot say that. The negotiations are proceeding.
