HC Deb 25 June 1936 vol 313 c2066
The SOLICITOR-GENERAL

I beg to-move, in page 7, line 12, at the end, to insert: (3) No information with respect to any particular undertaking which has been obtained by virtue of an Order in Council under this section shall, without the consent of the person carrying on that undertaking, be disclosed otherwise than in connection with the execution of this section or of such an Order, and if any person discloses any such information in contravention of this sub-section, he shall be liable, on summary conviction, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months or to a fine not exceeding fifty pounds or to both such imprisonment and such fine or, on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or to a fine not exceeding one hundred pounds or to both such imprisonment and such fine. This Clause provides that an order may be made for requiring certain statistics to be furnished so as, among other things, to permit the Minister to answer questions in the House. This Amendment is introduced, in conformity with an undertaking that we then gave, in order to prevent the possible disclosure of information.

Mr. EVERARD

As I moved the original Amendment in Committee, I should like to thank the Solicitor-General very much for meeting me.

Amendment agreed to.
