HC Deb 24 June 1936 vol 313 c1759
45. Miss WARD

asked the Prime Minister whether in view of the benefits accruing to any river obtaining the order for the sister ship to the "Queen Mary," he will consult with the First Lord of the Admiralty as to the advisability of equalising these advantages through the allocation of Admiralty work?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am informed by the First Lord of the Admiralty that the amount of work in the various areas is one of the factors which is taken into consideration by the Admiralty in allocating orders for warships.

Mr. McENTEE

Will the right hon. Gentleman see that in the building of the new ship British plywood panels are used instead of German, as was the case in the "Queen Mary"?

Mr. KIRBY

Will the right hon. Gentleman, be good enough to keep in mind the very heavy depression on Merseyside?
