HC Deb 23 June 1936 vol 313 cc1587-8
43 and 44. Mr. WAKEFIELD

asked the Minister of Transport (1) whether he is aware of the waste of public money now being incurred by deviating the Oxford-Swindon reconstructed road round a building situated at the junction of the Swindon borough and the Wiltshire county boundaries; and whether he will inquire into the reasons why this road was not reconstructed along the new straight building line of recently erected houses;

(2) whether he is aware that on the Oxford-Swindon road, at the junction of the Swindon borough and Wiltshire county boundaries, a building is situated which, in view of the road widening and reconstruction at present taking place, has now become a dangerous obstruction to road users; and will he take the necessary action for the immediate removal of this obstruction?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of TRANSPORT (Captain Austin Hudson)

I understand that the Wiltshire County Council are negotiating for the acquisition of the building referred to by my hon. Friend.
