HC Deb 23 June 1936 vol 313 c1576
23. Mr. MALCOLM MacMILLAN (for

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many local authorities in Scotland operate superannuation schemes for the benefit of their employes; and whether he has any intention of making obligatory the present adoptive powers in this connection?

Sir G. COLLINS

The local government and other officers' Superannuation Act, 1922, has been adopted by seven counties and 12 burghs in Scotland. In addition, Glasgow and Edinburgh have superannuation schemes under Local Acts, and three counties and four burghs are in process of adopting the 1922 Act. The matter referred to in the last part of the question involves legislation, and I am not at present in a position to make any statement.

Mr. WESTWOOD

Is it possible for the right hon. Gentleman to give a list of those authorities in the OFFICIAL REPORT?

Sir G. COLLINS

I would rather do that in reply to a further question, as I have not the information at the moment.
