HC Deb 09 June 1936 vol 313 cc24-5
44. Mr. ALBERY

asked the Minister of Labour whether he can now make a statement concerning the new regulations for the administration of unemployment assistance?

Lieut.-Colonel MUIRHEAD

There is nothing to add to the statement which my right hon. Friend made on this matter in the Debate on the Adjournment before the Recess.

Mr. ALBERY

Is the Minister of Labour bearing in mind the fact that many of the supporters of the Government at the General Election stated that certain aspects of the means test having a bearing on family life would receive early attention?

Lieut.-Colonel MUIRHEAD

I think that the Minister is bearing very closely in mind all the Election statements made by the Government.

Sir P. HARRIS

Is the hon. and gallant Gentleman aware that the Minister promised to produce his Regulations after Easter, that Easter has long since passed, and that it is now nearly midsummer?
