HC Deb 30 July 1936 vol 315 c1707
35. Mr. DAY

asked the Home Secretary what steps have been taken by the Commissioner of Police for the Metropolis to create a first police reserve in London, composed of police pensioners and other suitable men, similar to that which is in existence in the county and borough forces of England and Wales?

Sir J. SIMON

A scheme has been adopted and a register of suitable men is being compiled at Scotland Yard. There are already over 100 names on it.

Mr. DAY

How many will this reserve comprise when it is completed?

Sir J. SIMON

I do not know that that has yet been decisively settled, and I could not answer without notice.
