HC Deb 21 July 1936 vol 315 c235
34. Mr. JOHNSTON

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is now in a position to make a statement as to the scope and character of the land drainage works to be undertaken in the Kelvin Valley, and when operations are to begin?

Sir G. COLLINS

The proposed scheme of drainage in the Kelvin Valley includes the excavation of rock, the removal of a weir, and the general deepening and improving of the bed of the river. The area affected is approximately 4,250 acres, of which some 2,500 acres are liable to flooding. A draft scheme will be published about August next, but owing to the statutory procedure involved I regret I am unable to state when operations will begin.
