asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether Parliament will have an opportunity of discussing the proposal to transfer the Indian State railways to private enterprise?

Mr. BUTLER

I have no knowledge of any such proposal; but if the hon. Member has in mind the setting up of the Federal Railway Authority, the draft of the Order in Council bringing into force Part VIII of the Government of India Act, 1935, will, of course, be laid before Parliament under Section 309 of the Act.
