HC Deb 20 July 1936 vol 315 c30
57. Miss WARD

asked the Minister of Health whether he will institute an inquiry at the maternity hospitals in the Special Areas to ascertain the condition of the women admitted as patients?

Mr. SHAKESPEARE

These hospitals have recently been visited by medical officers of my Department in so far as this was necessary for the special investigation into maternal mortality which is now in progress, and my right hon. Friend does not think it is necessary at present to institute any further inquiry at these hospitals.

Miss WARD

In view of the unsatisfactory nature of the reply, I beg to give notice that I will raise this matter on the Adjournment.
