HC Deb 15 July 1936 vol 314 c2047
69. Mr. LOFTUS

asked the Attorney-General whether he is now in a position to give any information regarding the proposed institution of a system of official shorthand writers in the Courts of Justice; whether the committee on this subject, presided over by Mr. Justice Atkinson, has yet presented any report; and whether he can make any statement upon the nature of the report and the policy of His Majesty's Government thereon?

The ATTORNEY-GENERAL

The committee presided over by Mr. Justice Atkinson has not yet presented its report, but hopes to do so at an early date. In those circumstances it would be premature to make any statement upon the matter.
