asked the Secretary for Mines what was the output per man employed at the coal face in the North Staffs area in 1925, 1930, and 1935, respectively; and what were the wages received by the miners during the same dates?

The average output of coal per shift worked at the coal face in North Staffordshire was 51.83 cwts. in 1930 and 66.76 cwts. in 1935. I regret that no separate particulars in respect of North Staffordshire for 1925 are available. I am afraid it is not possible to give the cash earnings of workers at the coal face, but the average
