HC Deb 08 July 1936 vol 314 cc1207-8
83. Mr. RILEY

asked the Minister of Health whether all regular manual workers in the employ of local authorities in the United Kingdom already enjoy annual holidays with pay; and, if so, what is the approximate number of workers affected?

Mr. SHAKESPEARE

I regret that, as was stated by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Labour in reply to similar questions by the hon. Member for Wolverhampton, East (Mr. Mander) on 25th June and 2nd July, the information desired is not available.

Mr. RILEY

Is it possible, in view of the interest taken in this question, to obtain the information?

Mr. SHAKESPEARE

Even if we had the information we have no locus standi in the matter. It must be a matter of local opinion.

Mr. MANDER

In view of the great national interest taken in this matter, will the hon. Member be good enough to consider whether it is not possible to get this information from the local authorities?

Mr. SHAKESPEARE

I will consider it.
