asked the Minister of Health what the population of the administrative county of Glamorgan was in the years 1921 and 1925, respectively, together with the number of ordinary relief cases and the amount paid, the number of insured workers and the percentage of unemployed, the number of extraordinary relief cases dealt with, and the amount paid during each of the years mentioned?

As the answer contains a number of figures, I will, with the hon. Member's permission, circulate a statement in the OFFICIAL REPORT giving the desired information so far as it is available.

Following is the answer:

The estimated population of the administrative county of Glamorgan was 827,658 in the middle of 1921 and 843,400 in the middle of 1925. Information is not available in regard to the number of persons in receipt of poor relief or the amount of out-relief in the county earlier than 31st March, 1930. The estimated number of insured persons (aged 16 and over) was 233,950 in July, 1925, and the percentage of unemployed was 19.8. Corresponding figures for 1921 are not available.
