HC Deb 06 July 1936 vol 314 cc852-3
55. Mr. DAY

asked the Home Secretary on whose instructions and in what circumstances the captain of the "Girl Pat" and his brother were arrested under the Fugitive Offenders Act at Georgetown, British Guiana; and whether he will give particulars?

Mr. LLOYD

A warrant having been issued in this country for the arrest of these persons on a charge of larceny, application was made by my Department for the arrest of the accused in pursuance of the Fugitive Offenders Act, 1881, with a view to their return to this country.

Mr. DAY

Were any instructions issued to our representative in British Guiana to oppose bail?
