21 and 22. Mr. SHORT

asked the President of the Board of Education (1) what is the total number of places now provided by the Doncaster Education Committee for secondary education;

(2) what is the total number of places allocated to the West Riding Council in the Doncaster secondary schools?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of EDUCATION (Mr. Oliver Stanley)

On 31st March, 1935, the last date for which complete figures are available, there were 1,165 pupils attending the two secondary schools in Doncaster, of whom 514 came from the area of the West Riding education authority. Under the agreement which at present exists between the two authorities, the West Riding authority may send up to 250 pupils to each of the two Doncaster secondary schools.
