HC Deb 02 July 1936 vol 314 c602
40. Mrs. TATE

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that there is a serious shortage of houses in the village of Rode, Somerset, and that plans were put forward for the erection of five houses in this village and turned down by the Warminster and Westbury Rural District Council owing to the water supply being inadequate; and can he say when the serious conditions with regard to housing and water in this village are likely to be rectified?

Sir K. WOOD

I am aware of the problem and have already 'approved in principle a scheme for the provision of water for three parishes, including Rode, and sanctioning the preliminary expenditure for the sinking of a bore hole. This is the first step towards meeting this recognised housing difficulty.
