HC Deb 26 February 1936 vol 309 cc443-4
42. Mr. HALL-CAINE

asked the Minister of Transport what complaints or deputations he has received complaining of the results of Sub-section (2) of Section 11 of the Road Traffic Act, 1933, so far as road transport operations are concerned; and whether he will consider introducing amending legislation in this respect?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

Parliament recently decided to establish machinery for enabling objections to be lodged and considered, and it is for the licensing authorities and not for me to decide what weight should be attached to them. I should not presume, on the evidence before me, to invite Parliament to overthrow a system which provides a judicial method of furnishing the community with goods transport facilities in an orderly way.
