HC Deb 16 December 1936 vol 318 c2459
51. Sir NICHOLAS GRATTAN-DOYLE

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the unsatisfactory position of British merchant shipping in the Far East, he will consider referring the question to the Imperial Shipping Committee for examination and advice as to remedial action?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Dr. Burgin)

Yes, Sir. The Imperial Shipping Committee have been for some time engaged on a survey of shipping which includes the Far East and they will be asked to furnish a special report on the position there.
