HC Deb 15 December 1936 vol 318 c2261
21. Sir W. SMILES

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether there has been any increase or otherwise in the amount and value of made-up garments imported into this country from Japan to the disadvantage of the home manufacturers?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

Provisional figures for the first ten months of this year show that imports of made-up garments from Japan are about the same in value as compared with the corresponding period last year and less than in the corresponding period of 1934.
