HC Deb 15 December 1936 vol 318 c2266
26. Mr. DAY

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he will give particulars of any numbers of units or equipment under his control that have been used for the production of films for commercial purposes during the 12 months ended to the last convenient date; and what payment has been received by those taking part in such films and by his Department for the use of such units and equipment?

Mr. COOPER

The information asked for in the first part of the question is not readily available and could not be obtained without a disproportionate expenditure of time and labour. The payments made to military personnel taking part in the films are at rates not less than those current in the industry, and the fees charged to film companies vary in accordance with the services rendered, but I do not regard it as being in the public interest to give figures.

Mr. DAY

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether any units are being used at the present time?
