HC Deb 02 December 1936 vol 318 cc1262-3
62. Mr. PARKER

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the fact that Lloyd's and insurance companies decline to write war risks on land in this country, the Government are now prepared to write this risk and to continue so doing during hostilities should they arise; what is the present rate of premium; and does it vary According to the district and/or the nature of the property?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Dr. Burgin)

I am not in a position to add to the answer which my right hon. Friend gave the hon. Member on 12th November.

Mr. PARKER

Do not the Government intend to take some action in this matter?

Dr. BURGIN

The answer given on 12th November dealt with what the Government were proposing to do.

Mr. PARKER

They were not taking any action.
