HC Deb 27 April 1936 vol 311 cc539-40
10. Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, in view of the declaration of the British Foreign Secretary, at the Assembly of the League of Nations on 14th September, 1934, that unilateral action, such as the refusal of Poland to co-operate in the treaties for the protection of minorities, would not be recognised, whether this statement was accepted by Poland, and, if not, what is now the position in regard to the application of minorities treaties to Poland?

Mr. EDEN

The Polish delegate to the Fourteenth Assembly of the League of Nations made no reply to the statement made by the United Kingdom delegate, to which the hon. Member refers. As regards the last part of the question, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the right hon. and gallant Gentleman the Member for Newcastle-under-Lyme (Colonel Wedgwood) on 8th April last.
