HC Deb 27 April 1936 vol 311 c538
8. Lieut.-Commander FLETCHER

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of the fact that the decision of the Austrian Government to introduce conscription constitutes an infringement of the Treaty of St. Germain, it is contemplated to take any action?

Mr. EDEN

The matter is under consideration, and I am not in a position to make a statement at present.

Mr. J. J. DAVIDSON

Surely the right hon. Gentleman can answer the first part of the question, as to whether it is a breach of the Agreement?

Mr. EDEN

I prefer not to make any statement in advance of other parties who are also signatories to the Treaty of St. Germain.
