HC Deb 23 April 1936 vol 311 cc296-7
25. Mr. LEWIS

asked the Postmaster-General upon what date Group-Captain W. H. Primrose was appointed as Air Mail Adviser; and upon what date his employment in that capacity terminated?

Sir W. WOMERSLEY

Group-Captain W. H. Primrose was appointed as Air Mail Adviser to the Post Office on 25th July, 1934, and he relinquished that appointment on 7th March last.

Mr. LEWIS

Will the Assistant Postmaster-General tell us whether that appointment was always intended to be of a purely temporary character?

Sir W. WOMERSLEY

At the time this officer was appointed the Post Office were dealing with the inauguration of an Air Mail Service, and it was felt desirable to have the expert advice of someone experienced in Air Service, but when the time came that we managed this job ourselves, the appointment was terminated.
