HC Deb 22 April 1936 vol 311 c138
17. Mr. HALL-CAINE

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what is to be the nature of the negotiations with the Arab delegates from Palestine who are coming to this country to discuss the legislative council; and whether he can give an undertaking that no commitment as to the setting up of such council will be entered into without the approval of Parliament?

18. Mr. V. ADAMS

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has any statement to make about his conferences with Arab leaders on the proposed new constitution of Palestine?

Mr. J. H. THOMAS

I am not in a position to add anything to the reply which I gave to the right hon. Member for Newcastle-under-Lyme (Colonel Wedgwood) on 8th April. I hope, however, to be able to make a statement after I have received the Arab deputation and considered their representations.

Mr. ADAMS

Can my right hon. Friend say whether the Arab delegation has started from Palestine?

Mr. THOMAS

No, Sir.
